What to wear – Fall colour guide

The goal is to complement the autumn landscape without competing with it. Earthy, muted and warm colours tend to photograph especially well against fall foliage.

Warm neutrals

Cream, beige, taupe, oatmeal, brown

Earth tones

Rust, burnt orange, mustard, olive, forest green

Deep colours

Burgundy, wine, plum, navy, charcoal

Soft blues

Denim, muted slate blue

Try to avoid: Neon colours, very bright primary colours, large logos, busy graphics and matching everyone in the same colour.

For families: Coordinate rather than match. Choose 2-4 complementary colours and mix textures such as sweaters, denim, jackets, scarves and boots.

Layering helps: Fall sessions look ore natural when outfits have depth and texture. Bring a jacket, cardigan, scarf or overskirt if the weather allows.

Tip: If you’re unsure, start with neutral clothing ad add one warm autumn accent.
